In the beginning...

... there is always an idea or an inspiration. For my first project my inspiration has come from that wealth of knowledge anyone with an internet connection knows, Youtube. I was just trolling along on there one day and I came across a man who built his own rocket engine. I looked for other similar videos and low and behold there were hundreds. After watching numerous videos on homemade rockets a trend started to become evident. Almost all of the videos showed tests of the rocket engines, but exceedingly few videos explained how they were made. After seeing that, I told my friend, Jordan, that I was going to try to build a rocket engine and share the videos on Youtube. He suggested that I blog the whole process, and I thought, "Eh, why not." So here we are today.

I've given some thought to the project and the first thing I decided to work on is building a safe place where I can test the rocket. I saw an interesting design online that I'm going to base my construction on. I hope to begin construction tonight. If all goes well, I hope to have another blog entry up soon that will illustrate how to build a safe enclosure for testing a rocket.

By the way, here are a couple links to the videos that I thought were cool:
